This unique formula contains not just one but two of the most intensely clinically studied yeast based probiotics. Taking these kinds of probiotics can result in both rapid intestinal relief as well as long term reduction in digestive discomfort.
Saccharomyces cerevisae boulardii are natural yeasts that were already found decades ago to restore the normal balance of the many microorganisms that form the intestinal environment.
The original observations stem from the French explorer Henri Boulard, who in his travel in Indochina, in the early 1920's, noted that the locals were able to stop diarrhea by consuming a tea made from the skins of various fruits (which contained Saccharomyces). Since then the beneficial role of Saccharomyces cerevisae boulardii has been confirmed in a host of published studies in peer reviewed journals.
Saccharomyces cerevisae boulardii have been shown to:
- Improve the immune system of the intestinal tract by stimulating the production of secretory IgA and IgG.
- Detoxify the intestine by the production of a 54KDa protein protease, an enzyme that can neutralize some bacterial toxins.
- Have a restoring effect on the intestinal mucosa by releasing several proteins which contribute to the activity of the enzymes present in the mucous layer. This ultimately leads to the repair of the intestinal cells.
- Have a beneficial effect on the diarrhea associated with food allergies by supporting the function and availability of the lactase, sucrase and maltase enzymes.
The Pro GI+ Saccharomyces is stomach acid resistant and has been shown to be helpful in relief of diarrhea, and reduce intestinal discomfort.
The Pro SCB Saccharomyces is a more recently patented probiotic shown to bring relief in abdominal/intestinal bloating, discomfort, constipation and/or temporary digestive pain. In recent studies with this ingredient, persistent long term discomfort was shown to be statistically significantly reduced after taking the probiotic for as little as four weeks.
